Research Question: How does the use of solar panels affect an African’s everyday life?

Thesis: The use of solar panels improve everyday life, the weekly spendings on electricity drop tremendously and people can do more at night, in one solar kit there is everything that they will need for electricity.

Topic Sentence #1:  The new opportunities from having light at night. 

Topic Sentence #2: The people who need electricity for a good amount of time get more for their money when they buy solar energy.

Topic Sentence #3: There are many solar farms in Africa, each solar farm has a solar kit.

Research Question: Why was M-Pesa made and how does it help the people who use it?

Thesis: M-Pesa helps small and/or rural economies (1) because it is mobile and can be used as fast as a text message, (2) it also provides faster access to money in bank-lacking communities, (3) as well as these it is a safer way of carrying money than cash or a credit card.

  • Topic Sentence #1: M-Pesa is a newly created form of mobile money transfer; it allows funds to be moved quickly and easily to and from any mobile device.
  • Topic Sentence #2: Many people in Kenya live miles away from the closest bank and do not have internet access; this is where M-Pesa comes in.
  • Topic Sentence #3: This mobile payment system has revolutionized the way money can flow to both individuals and small businesses.

Research Question:   How did William Kamkwamba’s windmill effect him and his village?

Thesis:  William, a 14 year, living in poverty old boy with a vision made something that changed peoples lives all around the world.

Topic Sentence #1: William taught people, that even if you don’t have a lot of money or even education you can still help a lot of people out.

Topic Sentence #2:  William taught people, that if you help other people out you may get something in return.

Topic Sentence #3:  William taught people, that even if you are a 14 year old boy from a starving country you can still make amazing things.

Research Question: What is the general impact of mobile phones on the people in Africa?

Thesis: Mobile phones in Africa will make mostly everything easier because they will make money transactions as easy as catching a sloth, give farmers access to the weather, make it easier to communicate and much more

Topic Sentence #1: Mobile phones in Africa have programs that will make many aspects of life easier, including money transactions and health helpers.

  • Topic Sentence #2: Because of Mobile phones in Africa, Farmers will be able to access things like the weather predictions, letting them know when to plant the seeds and sow the crops.
